Loser's Guide to Life
A noted economist with a desk explains that "Unfortunately, aid can make things worse". How's that? Very simple and obvious to anyone with eyes in his head: "When there are no good opportunities available, the tempation is to start piling into the bad ones, rather than give the money back and look for a job selling shoes." How true that is. We here at Loser's Guide have to resist this constant temptation to start piling into bad ones. Yes, and lemme caution you: ever since we to left our well-paying job at the shoe store it has been nowhere but downhill.
So you persist in wantng to help people, crazy do-gooder? I suppose you could stand at street corners and shout "Get a job you lazy bastard!" at every beggar who comes along. But that's a lot more exhausting than you might at first think. You're out in all kinds of weather, you get hoarse, no place to sit down, salary's no good, etc. No, the best thing is to get some kind of position with an institute or think tank that pays people to do that, except from a nice cosy office.
