À bas Woody Allen!

Hollywood Ending must be the most disappointing movie in a few years. Extracts seem wildly funny and interesting. Then you see the whole boring thing and you are fundamentally bored, bored many times over, bored into acts of contrition and self-mutilation. The "Director" (played by Woody Allen) is a brilliant hypochondriac slated to remake The City that Never Sleeps. He gets so nervous that he goes blind, etc. He has a teenage girlfriend, he has an ex-wife, his ex-wife's man is a phony, he spends fruitless hours with his analyst. Everyone keeps jabbering, incapable of producing a complete sentence at any time. Even the blind act is terrible—he seems to be unaware that even blind poeple can tell roughly where their interlocutors are from the sound of their voice.

At the end of the movie, Allen's "movie" does poorly in the US, but achieves great success in France, so he decides to move there. That might be a mistake. He's no Jerry Lewis, after all.

Watching TV is a good way to tear yourself away from the computer.
