Loser's Guide to Life
A little while ago there was an important news item about same-sex marriages in the penguin community. Now Sadly, No! provides a link to some religious exegesis of the matter. Perhaps "matter" is a poor choice here.

Reaction of Traditional Penguins Unclear |
But what seems to have escaped serious debate is the reaction of traditional penguins. There is a lot of coverage of the phenomenon itself but nothing to tell us how mainstream penguin society views these odd ménages, if they are indeed aware of them. It's a serious question, because most birds follow a rather stricter code than ours. I've seen crows, for example, fight quite viciously over territory, actually kicking each other and tumbling around on the ground. Having no recourse to law, they tend to take matters into their own feet.Yet there seems to be nothing in the penguin stories so far to suggest that these same-sex marriages are an issue in Antarctica.
Is it possible that penguins just don't care about the private lives of their fellows?
