As reported in the local rag and elsewhere, Vardan Kushnir (Вардан Кушнир), Russia's chief spammer, was found beaten to death in his apartment. According to this, the motive was not his spamming activities but robbery. The police found traces of a powerful sedative in a glass in his apartment and say that some women he met in a club called "The Hungry Duck" went home with him, drugged him, then invited some accomplices in to rob the place. The victim woke up, a fight broke out, etc. This is apparently a common sort of crime. There is even a slang term for the perpetrators, klofelinshchitsy, derived from Clofeline, a drug.
