Loser's Guide to Life
Lots of people put photographs of their pets on their weblog; I thought I should do the same:

Of course, most people who have pets on their site also have all kinds of important rumbling about politics, economics, and all that. I don't have time for that because of the many beasts infesting the home and computer, up to no good, causing a lot of extra work to be done.
And yet even as you sit at your computer, be it in the home or office, there is a battlefield right in front of you. No need to make enemies by going on about things and leaving angry messages in people's comments boxes:
Hacker underground erupts in virtual turf wars. An unprotected computer running Windows XP experiences an average 'survival' time of 26 minutes on the Internet before hackers identify it as vulnerable, according to the SANS Institute, a cooperative Internet security organization.
That's almost hard to believe. It makes this whole "internet" thing look rather small. I always imagine it to be as wide as the world, but I am informed that it really occupies no space whatsoever. And to think of an operating system being picked off in minutes, just like one of those baby turtles being grabbed by a seagull as it dashes for the water! Incredible.
