Loser's Guide to Life
A guy is trapped on a desert island. He is able to fix an old radio and transmit, but only on the AM band, and only at low power, reaching a popular beach resort a few miles away. So he broadcasts a nightly talk show interspersed with some old 78s that he found preserved in the wreckage of a B-21: "It Don't Mean a Thing", "Don't Be That Way", "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree", "Aggravatin' Papa (Don't You Try To Two-Time Me)". He gets to be known as a sort of negative guy at the nearby beach community and everyone loves tuning him in because the conceit is so amusing. From time to time he issues a call for help: "... and that was "Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me", the Stan Kenton Orchestra. Way back in, oh, 1943. A big hit for Stan (and the Duke, obviously). Well, we're coming up on the hour, 22:54. And once again, anyone out there who can, you know, alert the local coast guard or air-sea rescue or whatever. A guy in a boat. If you hear this, you know where I am. Give 'em a call and get me off this island."
But his band of listeners can't get around to doing anything. They're on holiday. And they like the show.
