Loser's Guide to Life
According to this article in The New Republic, Naomi Wolf has found Jesus, or at least come to grips with a spiritual void implied earlier: In The Beauty Myth,
She diagnoses modern women, for example, as suffering from a case of unquenched "spiritual hunger." This hunger manifests itself through an obsession with appearance (particularly skin care) that is exploited by the beauty-industrial complex--or, as Wolf calls it, the "Church of Beauty"--whose strict commands "crudely imitate medieval Catholicism."
It's difficult to know what to make of the article, however, as it doesn't really tell you anything beyond a bit of background. There's sort of no story there, just a repetition of some other journalist's account of mystical vision Wolf is meant to have had. As far as I can tell, in fact, the story only has a point if the reader is already eager to read something ridiculous about Naomi Wolf or spiritual matters. I've already wasted an extraordinary amount of time on it just writing this!
