I Love a Punchy Subtitle 

Here's one that I saw yesterday on the title page of a book published in 1735:

...To which is prefix'd, a Large VINDICATION of the Author against the Groundless CHARGE of PARTIALITY, proving, That the Reverend Doctors, and others who charg'd him with it, are themselves, of all Men, the most PARTIAL.
