I was thinking about Peter O'Toole and all the actors I admired as a child, and
I came home from school
One sunny November afternoon
In Manitoba
In my sixth year of this
And there was Hamlet on TV, Troubled
As he always was,
About the ghost of my father
And my mother explained
And they poured poison in his ear
And they died
And for someone to say the lines directly
To a five-year-old
Made me look
As if we were both looking for these lines
And we looked for them
And we found them.
