Hurlamaboc

According to An Chúirt Éigse, the five books on the shortlist for this year's Oireachtas na Gaeilge book of the year: Cín Lae Seangáin, by Tomás Mac Síomóin; Hurlamaboc, by Éilís Ní Dhuibhne; Lón Anama, by Ciarán Mac Murchaidh; Gaschaint, by Úna Lawlor; and Fontenoy, by Liam Mac Cói.

The title of the first one, “An Ant's Diary”, sounds good. Hurlamaboc, or “Hurly-burly”, on the other hand, sounds like a Young Adult novel, and its description confirms this.

Apparently Young Adults like to read books about ordinary people like themselves who have some big misfortune or some catastrophe that changes everything. When I was that age (12 to 17 or whatever), I used to like playing ping pong.
