Cold Boiled Potatoes and Mayonnaise, Please!
I believe I read somewhere that potato salad was originally a conceptual joke elborated by the Futurists. The fact that it didn't work and people started making potato salad and eating it like there was no tomorrow contributed to the demise of the Futurist project.
Incidentally, China now leads the world in potato production.
