If you're rich and you need to murder somebody, whatever you do, don't give your driver the evening off!!!
That's just a red flag for the cops. As soon as they find out that you'd given the driver the evening off on the night of the murder, they know that you've been up to no good.
Obviously, setting up the device to kill the old patrarch or pesky photographer is going to take all evening, and you're going to be busy taking cabs back and forth to establish an alibi, and you're thinking, “Why should I pay the driver when I won't be needing him at all? Money saved!” But that's false economy.
