Donald Duck

I have to say I was mightily suprised by this:

In 1995, a 1937 Mickey Mouse cartoon called "Clock Cleaners" contained in Walt Disney Cartoon Classics series' video "Fun on the Job" made the news because it allegedly included a frustrated Donald Duck shouting "Fuck you!", leading Wal-Mart to pull the video from its shelves.

Growing up, I just assumed Donald was shouting “Fuck you!” all the time. Of course, at first I didn't know what the expression meant and had to ask. I feel rather misled now, after all these years, and not a little betrayed.

But what is he saying then?

Anomalies

Somebody pointed out to me the other day that an unusual number of outrageous liars are professional journalists. I just laughed and hung up my iPhone, and I was iRate, but I guess statistics don't lie. Fully 87 percent of documented liars are, in fact, journalists, or have received some form of journalistic training.

Well, you can detect the wiggle room right away, I think. First, we are only talking about lies that we know about and can prove—an exceedingly tiny part of the whole—and second, “journalistic training” is a rather flexible category.

Still, there you are. It is shocking and remarkable. To think that someone whose vocation is to get at the truth and report about it could knowingly publish false or misleading information! How could that happen?!
